About us

Holgate Allotments Association (HAA) was established in 2014, with the inaugural meeting held on 15 January 2015. The Association was formed in order to:

  • improve site security
  • encourage a cooperative effort to develop site facilities
  • work with the Site Secretary to maximise use of the plots
  • promote biodiversity and sustainable gardening practice
  • build links with the community and other allotment associations

Please note that we are not part of York Allotments Charitable Incorporated Organisation YACIO, which is the body responsible for leasing plots and managing allotment sites across the city. If you are interested in applying for a plot on the Holgate site please contact YACIO directly.

HAA do however work with YACIO and other allotment associations across York.

The Assocation is steered by a Committee made up of the following Officers:

  • Chair – Robert Hervey
  • Secretary – Phillip Conde
  • Treasurer – Sarah Hill

The Committee works with the Site Secretary (Helen Butt) who is YACIO’s representative on the Holgate site.
