GoodGym working wonders

Some members of GoodGym after the dig
Some hardy GoodGymers from the first digging session

If you’ve passed the allotments recently you’ll have noticed that the overgrown plot near the car park is now (mostly) clear of weeds and we’ve been delighted over the last month to welcome GoodGym who are helping us dig over the whole area. So far they made two nocturnal visits midway through their training runs to grapple with the bramble roots covering much of the plot and they’ll be coming for two more session in December to continue with the hard digging.

Eventually we hope to turn this area into a beautiful orchard and wildlife area for the local community and allotment holders to enjoy. We’ll be discussing the plans for this at the next Holgate Association meeting so do come along to find out more.

Thanks GoodGym for all your hard work. We’ll be seeing you again soon! Thanks too to Ruth from Edible York and York Council for loaning us a shed load (literally!) of forks and spades.
